February Furmint: The Wines of Hungary (Saturday, February 8, 5-8pm), $20
We’re featuring wines from Central and Eastern Europe throughout February in celebration of February Furmint, and our first of two tastings will focus on the wines of Hungary.
Last year, Dave met Eric Danch, a hilarious and supremely passionate fellow who fell in love with the wines of Central and Eastern Europe while working for a show that combined European cabaret and Vaudevillian circus. Eric’s six years in the circus catalyzed a career focusing on the wines that his European colleagues drank, and he spent close to a decade spreading love for these wines in the Bay area before taking over and transforming the Blue Danube Wine Co. into Danch and Granger Selections with his business partner Catherine Granger.
This tasting will highlight six wines from the Hungarian side of the Danch & Granger portfolio, foregrounding the historical regions of Somlo and Tokaj; these white wines will range from dry to off-dry to fully botrytized, covering a breadth of traditional styles that are rarely seen in the United States.
Your ticket will be credited toward a purchase of three bottles.
